Your role in the modeling team within our Corporate Finance group involves developing complex models for corporate finance and project finance transactions, planning and forecasting purposes, decision support and business information reporting. The group also provides independent assurance to clients by reviewing their models and reporting on their logical integrity and consistency between the inputs and outputs.
As a modeler, you will be involved in:
• Designing and building complex models under supervision according to best practice techniques
• Preparing modelling documentation such as user guides and data books which describe the key assumptions
• Reviewing Excel models under supervision, arriving at preliminary conclusions as to whether the model achieves its objectives and preparing a report of the findings
• Understanding, manipulating and interpreting financial client data, drawing appropriate conclusions
• Developing a strong understanding of Excel, auditing tools and other software packages where appropriate
For this role, we seek candidates with:
• Corresponding years of relevant experience to the respective level / corporate grade
• A sound grasp of financial statements and a good understanding how they are linked together and how to interpret them. An accounting qualification would be an advantage
• Some experience of financial modelling and/or previous exposure to corporate finance and project finance transactions
In addition, you should possess the following attributes:
• Highly numerate and analytical
• A sound grasp of Excel and an interest in using it to help clients make better business decisions
• High level of commercial awareness and an understanding of what drives financial performance
• Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively in a team and handle direct client interaction
• Attention to detail and work under pressure
• University degree in a numerate / financial discipline (Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Business Studies)
